Dr MJ Human is affiliated with most medical aids, but your child's specific medical aid plan will determine whether you are covered. Get in touch with our offices to determine if your child is eligible for a consultation. Alternatively, you can contact their health aid company for help.
4Do you need a referral?
No, you don’t need a referral from another healthcare provider, you can contact our offices directly.
5How do you make an appointment?
You can email or call our offices to schedule an appointment with Dr MJ Human or request a booking by filling out our online contact form with your preferred date and time.
6What are some of the common red flag symptoms suggestive of Paediatric Surgical emergency?
- Severe abdominal pains associated with fever and vomiting
- Green vomitus-a surgical emergency until proven otherwise
- Vomiting or passing blood per rectum (including jellylike stool mixed with blood)
- Groin or umbilical swelling and redness associated with vomiting and not passing stool
- If in doubt always get expert opinion early on
7How do payments work?
In room consultations are billed to you directly, where you can either EFT or make use of the in-room card machine. This can then be claimed back from the medical aid depending on the specific medical aid plan or agreement
In Hospital treatment gets billed to your medical aid directly. Your medical aid might not cover the full amount and as a result there might be a shortfall where the main member is responsible for the remaining outstanding fees.
8How long before an operation should my child stop eating?
Clear fluids (eg water, grape juice, apple juice, tea without milk) are allowed 2 hours before operation
Breastmilk-4 hours before operation
Formula and other solids-6 hours before operation
